Angell Thompson

Insurance Claims

Before
After

For most private individuals, and many businesses, their property is their most valuable single asset. Large-scale property damage is distressing for any owner - and is usually severely disruptive. Subsidence, fire, explosion, flood, burst pipe, storm and impact damage often necessitate emergency action, salvage and site safety.

For many years, often working alongside Loss Adjusters, Angell Thompson & Partners Ltd have been providing an independent service to policyholders and insurance industry professionals in response to major property-damage events. We handle the repair from the point of loss, through to full reinstatement.

We are able to provide a rapid response to disasters, including the arrangement of emergency works such as propping, temporary roofing, pumping-out and / or demolition.

Our Service

  • Whether we are contacted by private individuals, companies or insurers, we aim to visit your premises within 24 hours of instruction. Prompt action helps to reduce property owners' anxiety and can often reduce the extent of loss.
  • If emergency works are needed, we have a panel of contractors able to act quickly to minimise damage, salvage property, protect what remains, and make the site safe.
  • We prepare a clear, 'plain-language' report or specification and schedule of necessary building repairs.
  • With our multi-disciplinary capability, we have the technical skills to deal with all types of damage, from simple repairs through to complex structural failures. We also know when to inform the Local Authority Planning and Building Control departments.
  • We seek competitive quotations from a panel of known, trusted building contractors.
  • We will carry out regular site inspections throughout the course of remedial works.
  • We will handle payments between insurers and the contractor, via our Client Call Account which is operated according to the regulations of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
  • We will only sign-off a finished project and make the final payment to contractors, when we, and you, are satisfied that all works have been properly completed.

Our directors have had considerable experience as surveying or engineering professionals employed directly within the Loss Adjusting profession and as a result have an in-depth understanding of the many issues relating to insurance cover as well as the technical aspects of building construction. We understand, but are not constrained by, the limits of policy cover and insurers' interest in minimising costs. As independent professionals, we act in our client's best interests above all other considerations.
